The requirements for selection include:

  • proficiency m the chosen field of knowledge

  • proficiency in English

  • a university level diploma or a high school/college certificate; scholastic record. The quality of the institution attended is also considered. Some credit is given for practical experience (to employees of ministries. Parliament, state committees, embassies, international organizations, etc.) Students should be free from other responsibilities for education in the programs (some exceptions are allowed, as in the case of employees of the MFA or other governmental bodies). English-language specialized courses in various aspects have been prepared by the Department of Foreign Languages and Country and Area Studies .

DAG's professors and students regularly take part in various conferences organized by other institutions- Tbilisi University, IBSU, Academy of Science, ACTR, IREX, UN Association, etc.

Internship and Student placement

In 2007 the Academy had its tenth graduation class.
A month-long internship or pre-diploma practice of students often takes place in ministries, the Parliament and other institutions. The program gives a student an immediate experience and often leads to placement in a job upon graduation. Thus, 32 of the 40 specialists of International Economics (who graduated in 1997-1998) work at the Ministries of Economics and Foreign Trade, at ICT International Group, various joint ventures; one works in the UN headquarters in New York (and is one of the 4 editors of annual Human Development Reports for Europe and the CIS). There are about 35 graduates of the Department of International Relations of DAG who work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Consular Department, at the Ministry of Justice. Others work at various embassies, at Strasbourg Human Rights Court, Norwegian Institute of Human Rights, in Germany, Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Israel, Central Asia, Armenia, Russia, etc. They got their positions owing to the general, professional and language training they received at the Academy. DAG has negotiated with some international missions and companies which accept its students as interns (some students were already accepted as interns by the OSCE, ICRC and the Embassy of Ukraine).

Among  graduates of the Diplomatic Academy there are Georgian and foreign diplomats (among them - former Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia and First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine), members of the Parliament of Georgia, a few acting governors, other officials. Among prospective MA students there are other foreign diplomats and employees of international organizations. DAG offers foreign students a summer school program as well (educational or cultural-educational).
