Leading Specialists

 Well known specialist head the Academy, teach in it or collaborate with it. They come to DAG from other universities, MFA, Academy of Science, Parliamentary Institute of Political Science, etc. where they head departments, are deputy directors, professors, leading research fellows, editors-in-chief, and teach various disciplines.

The Diplomatic Academy was founded and is headed by Prof. Soso Tsintsadze - a leading TV and mass-media political analyst, historian, author of many books and several hundred articles on Georgia's foreign and domestic politics, international relations, politics, history, etc.

Faculty members have the experience of studying and working abroad - in the USA, England, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Argentina, Greece, etc. Some were visiting professors, scholars-in residence, fellows at various American and European universities and research centers (as Keenan Institute, Woodrow Wilson Center, Washington DC; Columbia University, New York; Leeds Univ, GB; in France, etc.). Many faculty members speak European languages. Professors and teachers of DAG publish books, articles, textbooks and often participate in international conferences in Georgia and abroad.

Since the establishment of DAG foreign faculty (one each academic year) have been teaching various disciplines at the Academy: British specialist L. West taught English language; an American specialist in law, public policy and public administration Dr. J. Hickey (Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia), a Fulbright fellow, taught at the Academy contributing to its curricula and introducing new methods of teaching (such as case study, simulation, etc.); a young American faculty, R. Weaver, worked at the Academy as a cultural studies and English language specialist; John Wright, an OSCE observer, taught electoral systems; an American, Ms E. Koch taught English and American cultural studies to a group of junior students. In 2002-3 academic year Dr. T. Blauvelt, a Fulbright Fellow, taught political science, Harvard graduate G. Mchedlishvili (American Academy) taught UNESCO program. In 2003-4 academic year Dr. Robert Smith-Brandt (Heidelberg Univ.) will teach general linguistics and history of Germany. Since 2004 Dr Hans von Sachsen-Altenberg has been collaborating with the Academy as the Dean of European and American Studies.
