Facilities
There are two libraries at DAG; one - with
a stock of books and journals on humanities and economics in the Georgian and
Russian languages (politics, economics, history, psychology, literature,
cultural and area studies, religions, etc.); another is part of the
Department of Foreign Languages and comprises textbooks, books, periodicals
and maps in the English, German, French, Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Italian
and other languages. The two libraries are being enlarged on an on-going
basis, often as a result of book contributions from embassies, foreign
missions, international organizations or private persons.
Academic
and Social Activities
DAG builds and maintains close
contacts with foreign embassies and missions accredited in Georgia.
Ambassadors, cultural attaches, other officers of embassies, foreign missions
and international organizations often visit the Diplomatic Academy, meet its
students and staff, give lectures to the students, acquaint them with their
countries' foreign and domestic policies, relationship with Georgia, speak of
the duties of young diplomats. Since 1996 students of the Academy have been
participating in many activities carried out by international organizations,
such as UN "mock sessions" and seminars, "Open
Society-Georgia" intellectual games, receptions, etc.

plan to send promising students of DAG abroad as interns; one of the students
was sent by the Embassy of Turkey to the Ankara Language Center; in 2005 and
2007several graduate students of the Academy were sent abroad for a short-
term internship to departments of international relations of various
universities in Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
DAG sent
students to the University of Reno, Nevada (USA) on scholarships provided by
the University of Reno, Nevada, owing to the Inter-Institutional Agreement
signed by both the institutions. 18 students were sent by DAG to the USA on
various programs. Concordia and McGill
Universities in Montreal, Canada
are also ready to accept students from GIDA.
Several International
Conferences were organized by GIDA: one - with participants from the
North Caucasus (Kutaisi, summer 1996), another - with participation of seven
American specialists of Political Science from New York Institute of East -
West Studies, UC Berkley and Harvard
Universities, and
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Tbilisi, summer 1997). Both were
centered on CIS issues. The conference on Georgian issues was organized in
spring 1999 in collaboration with the Academy of Political
Science. The conference at the level of
well-known Georgian and foreign experts on the subject of Georgian-Russian
relations was held in Feb.-March 2001. In 2001-02 international round- table
discussions on International Relations and Human Rights were held with participation
of Swiss professors. Since 2003 numerous discussions, round-tables and
conferences were organized by the Academy with participation of well-known
experts, professors and

DAG's professors and students regularly take part in
various conferences organized by other institutions- Tbilisi
